Now that you have…
Made space for the Holy Spirit to light up God’s word, AND
Taken vulnerable steps to live the word out, AND
Connected to others so that God’s word could be loved into who you are,
it’s time to…
Reflect
…on your experience.
Considering the video you watched, the passage you studied, and the living/loving activities you did, spend time prayerfully asking God to speak to you through your experience.
-
Freestyle journaling
Quiet still listening
Taking a walk
Art
Talking over your experience with a friend
Writing a poem or song
Try to synthesize your experience with a single word or image
-
What did you come to know about God?
What did God call you to?
What did you see that you hadn’t seen before?
What surprised you?
What troubled you?
Where do you go from here?
-
You don’t have to be a writer or a poet or an artist to start keeping a record of how God is speaking to you, but looking back over time can be helpful and encouraging.
If you’re the kind of person who wants to buy a leather bound journal to capture your experience- go for it.
If it’s more your style to record a voice memo or keep a chaotic stack of post-its, that’s cool too. Just do something that captures what you’ve experienced.
-
Finish your time for reflection by giving thanks to God for the experience.
Ready, set…oh.
