Live it out

For each video, we will respond to the teaching and passage in an embodied way.

This just means that we will do something with our bodies that helps us absorb our video learning into something with the power to transform.

As you “Live it out,” keep in mind:

  • It’s OK if the activity feels a little weird.  Growth happens when we are vulnerable.

  •  You do not have to worry about getting it right.  I promise, there is no right way to do any of these embodied activities.

  • Go slow.  These activities should feel like tilling the relational soil with God, not toiling in the hot sun.  Relax and enjoy the process.

Ready, set, grow.

  • Lord, Help me to rest if your very goodness. Amen

  • There are lots of ways Sabbath is observed modernly, but the point is to take a 24 hour period to rest. In the observation of Sabbath, follow these guidelines:

    • Don’t be productive: Anything you’re tempted to do that will make the rest of your week easier is off limits.

    • Don’t make sabbath work by planning a bunch of things to do to make sabbath worthwhile: (I’ll read my Bible for this long, and pray for this long). Instead lean into the freedom of not having a goal.

    • Sabbath doesn’t have to be totally still, silent or boring: Play, sleep, relax, talk, sing, walk, draw, make S’mores, play boardgames, jump on the trampoline, put your feet up. Do what feels restorative to you.

    • Don’t earn your sabbath. If you’re working extra hard on Friday morning to justify taking a day off, you’re missing the point. Trust that God’s rest is not a reward, but a given in the very good life.
